Your Right to a Good Faith Estimate
Effective date: May 1, 2026
You have the right to a Good Faith Estimate
Under federal law — the No Surprises Act — you have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate explaining how much your medical care will cost.
Healthcare providers and facilities are required to give patients who don't have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services before those items or services are provided.
What this means at True Path Functional Medicine
Because True Path Functional Medicine is a direct-pay practice and is not contracted with any insurance company, this protection applies to every patient we see. We are committed to being transparent about cost.
- You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate ("GFE") for the total expected cost of any non-emergency item or service we provide — including consultations, lab testing, supplements, peptides, GLP-1 medications, and any other prescribed therapies.
- If your service is scheduled at least 3 business days in advance, we will provide a written GFE no later than 1 business day after scheduling.
- If your service is scheduled at least 10 business days in advance, we will provide a written GFE no later than 3 business days after scheduling.
- You can also request a Good Faith Estimate at any time, before scheduling, by contacting us.
- The GFE will be provided to you in a way that is accessible to you — typically by secure email, and available in writing on request.
If your bill is significantly higher than your estimate
If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate for any single provider or facility, you have the right to dispute the bill through the federal patient-provider dispute resolution process.
You may contact the healthcare provider or facility on the bill to let them know that the billed charges are higher than the GFE. You can ask them to update the bill to match the GFE, ask them to negotiate, or ask if there is financial assistance available.
You may also start a dispute resolution process with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. If you choose to use the dispute process, you must start it within 120 calendar days from the date of the original bill. There is a small administrative fee to use the dispute process. If the agency reviewing your dispute agrees with you, you will only have to pay the price on your Good Faith Estimate. If the agency disagrees with you and agrees with the provider, you will have to pay the higher amount.

Save your Good Faith Estimate
Make sure to save a copy or photo of your Good Faith Estimate. You may need it if you are billed a higher amount than the estimate.
